HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS – 2007

My name is Cubbie. Once each year my friend Harry gives me the opportunity to write a Letter from the Heart. I would like to tell you about the Home for the Holidays Open House at the Humane Society of Kent County. The Open House will be held Sunday December 9th from Noon until 4:00pm at the Humane Society facility at 3077 Wilson Dr NW. I have asked Harry to add a card with this letter to provide some more details. My typing is getting better, but using my paws to “stuff” the envelopes is something I haven’t mastered.

My friends at Priority Mortgage will be helping to sponsors the event for the fifth consecutive year. They will have an “everyone wins” door prize drawing. Great prizes will include Christmas crafts, Gift certificates, Griffins tickets and other goodies. Each year we seem to have some surprise visitors. My friend Griff (you know him as the Griffins mascot) has been mum this year. Last year I think he got in trouble for letting the secrets out, but I know we’ll have a surprise or two.

As some one who grew up on the streets of Chicago before being adopted through the Humane Society, I know the real emphasis is the “Adoptathon”. Everyone adopting an animal on Sunday will have a chance to spin the wheel for up to 100% off the adoption fee. If you already have a pet, protect your pet with microchipping for only $15.

If you come to the Humane Society on Sunday, please bring this letter with you for a second chance for a completely free adoption. This is how it will work. When you register for the prize drawing, please present this letter. If you are the first person adopting an animal after presenting the letter my friends at Priority Mortgage will pay for the cost of the adoption. If you prefer, Priority will provide you a flexible voucher for a pair of Club seats at any Grand Rapids Griffins regular season home game. You may pass this letter on to a friend, relative or co-worker that might be interested in adopting. You may even make copies for your friends. You are not required to be a client of Priority Mortgage but you must present this letter when you register. If you do forget your letter just say “Cubbie Sent Me” to be eligible for the free adoption or tickets.

If you are a new homeowner or still living in an apartment, the way to turn that house into a home is to “add one set of four legs, a happy tail and that indescribable measure of love we call a dog.”

I would like to give a special “Cubbie” tail wag to everyone at Priority Mortgage and The Humane Society volunteers and staff for making this event possible.
