My name is Cubbie. Last year I told you the story of how I grew up in the streets of Chicago. I had earned my original name of Digger because I was so good at digging through the trash to find my dinner. I was adopted by a family through the Humane Society so that I finally found a place, surrounded by love, to be a friend for life. If you have been reading the letters written by my friend for the last couple of years, you may remember the stories of Buddy and Shep. They each found friends for life through adoptions from the Humane Society.
As I look down from doggie heaven, I see so many of my animal friends that need your help. My friends at Priority Mortgage have offered to help. They are helping to get out the word about the Home for the Holidays event being held by the Humane Society of Kent County. Last year they had so much fun and helped over twenty animals find new homes, they decided to do it again. This year Home for the Holidays will be held on Sunday December 5th at the Humane Society building at 3077 Wilson NW. I have asked my friend to attach a copy of the flyer to the back of this letter to tell you more about the details.
If you promise not to tell anyone, I’d like to tell you about a few surprises planned for this year. Priority Mortgage and www.WestMichiganMortgageHelp.com are going to have drawings all day to give away prizes; Gift Certificates, Griffins tickets, special Home for the Holidays sweatshirts and long list of special Christmas items. I would like to send a special thanks to my friends Brenda, Linda, Dave and Joy for helping to provide these items. How did I learn about all of this? I have an old friend name Griff (you might know him as the Grand Rapids Griffins’ mascot), he just can’t keep a secret. Griff even told me that he was going to Home for the Holidays. I think he said he would be their about an hour starting at 1:30PM. If you happen to see him, please say Hi from his old friend Cubbie. But remember you promised not to tell him I gave away a few of the surprises.
