I have never been very good at remembering Birthdays, Anniversaries and some of the other more obscure Holidays on the calendar. I love giving or receiving presents, but often have a problem on the standard gift giving occasions. It just seems that one more Birthday present just doesn’t seem that special. Have you every watch someone opening a stack of Birthday presents. After they open the first beautifully wrapped gift, they quickly set it aside to see what else they received.
However, I love giving or receiving the unexpected gift. The gift given just because you were thinking of that special person and found something they would really enjoy. This is when it truly is the thought that counts.
1. The flowers delivered to the office just because he was thinking of you. (Ladies, even though most guys don’t admit it, we love receiving them just as much as you do!)
2. The new CD from last week’s concert or from your favorite artist, just because he saw it on display and knew you would enjoy it.
3. The Big Mac brought back by a co-worker when you had to work through lunch.
4. The hand made Christmas ornaments I receive from my friend Laurie (often in summer).
5. The friend, spouse, or child that brings you a cold drink, while you are out mowing the lawn.
6. The poem, written by that special person in your life.
7. The Snoopy pencils.
8. The Mickey Mouse “stuff”.
9. The book your sister would love.
10. The concert tickets for Brittany Spears or The Eagles.
11. Sharing your Snickers.
